A 26-year-old Guatemalan illeagl immigrant living in Oregon has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for traveling across state lines to sexually exploit a child victim.

US Attorney Scott E. Bradford announced that Leonias Juber Ramos-Garcia received 30 months behind bars and five years of supervised release following his November 18, 2025, guilty plea to traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

According to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon, the abuse unfolded over several months in early 2025. In February, Ramos-Garcia handed the minor victim a note containing cash while expressing his affection. The following month, he sent the child sexually explicit messages and arranged a hotel room in Central Oregon, where he carried out the sexual abuse.

In April, Ramos-Garcia drove hours from Oregon into Washington state, booked another hotel, and again sexually abused the victim. "On November 18, 2025, Ramos-Garcia pleaded guilty to traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct," a press release from the DOJ stated.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the FBI, with support from the DEA and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations. The prosecution formed part of Project Safe Childhood, the Justice Department’s long-running initiative aimed at combating child sexual abuse and exploitation nationwide.
