Harmeet Dhillon puts Mamdani on notice over anti-white discrimination policies

"Just because you're white doesn't mean you have fewer rights in this country."

Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon has put Zohran Mamdani's administration on notice if the socialist mayor of New York City decides to discriminate against white people. During his campaign, Mamdani's policies advocated to "shift the tax burden from overtaxed homeowners in the outer boroughs to more expensive homes in richer and whiter neighborhoods."

Dhillon, while speaking about Mamdani's administration, said, "Just because you're white doesn't mean you have fewer rights in this country. We all have equal rights in our country, and we will not stand for New York City violating any federal law whatsoever."

"They should be on notice. They are on high scrutiny, and we will swoop right in and do what's necessary to protect all citizens and taxpayers and residents of New York," Dhillon added. During Mamdani's campaign, a policy proposal about property taxes stated that his administration will "shift the tax burden from overtaxed homeowners in the outer boroughs to more expensive homes in richer and whiter neighborhoods."

The policy memo also said that he would "fix" the current property tax system by increasing the property tax rates in "the most expensive Brooklyn brownstones." Mamdani has denied that this policy would be discriminatory. The mayor was questioned by Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec at the White House over the policy, though Mamdani dodged the question and later said the policy was a "description of the neighborhoods and not a description of intent."

Since then, Mamdani has appointed Cea Weaver as a "tenant advocate"; she has said that private property needs to be seized and called homeownership a tool of "white supremacy."

“Private property, including any kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy,” Weaver posted online in 2019. Weaver has also previously called for "collective" ownership of homes, especially those owned by white families.

"I think the reality is, is that for centuries we've really treated property as an individualist good and not a collectivist good, and transitioning to treating it as a collective good and towards a model of shared equity will require that we think about it differently and it will mean that families, especially white families, but some POC families who are homeowners as well, are gonna have a different relationship to property than the one that we currently have," Weaver said in a resurfaced clip.
