On Thursday, a mob of illegal immigrants stormed through razor wire and rushed the border wall in El Paso, Texas, knocking over guards in the process.
Video from the incident showed a swarm of adult males tearing down the razor wire that was set up by the state of Texas and rushing past National Guardsmen towards a section of border wall which prevented their advance.
According to Fox News, over 300 people were in the group, and about 100 males charged the soldiers; only one has been arrested so far for assaulting a soldier. However, more arrests are likely for assault and destruction of property.
The incident reportedly began when one family unit was being allowed through and that is when the mob took the opportunity to swarm the fence.
The incident comes just as the state’s anti-illegal immigration law is being challenged in the courts. The Biden administration has sued multiple times in the last three years to stop border security measures implemented by Texas.
Earlier this week, the US Supreme Court ruled that Texas could enact an anti-illegal immigration law, which would allow police to arrest illegal immigrants, but the law was sent back to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which then blocked it again hours later.
Andrew Mahaleris, spokesman for Texas Governor Greg Abbott told Fox News, "The surge today in El Paso is the direct result of the unsustainable chaos President Biden has unleashed on the border. The Texas Military Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety quickly gained control of the situation and are working to repair the damage. These illegal immigrants committed crimes in Texas, and the Department of Public Safety is under instruction to arrest every illegal immigrant involved for committing criminal trespass and destruction of property."
