Geoffrey Ingersoll, the editor in chief of the Daily Caller, called out self-identified "progressive media watchdogs" Media Matters in the most conclusive way on Twitter on Friday.

"You can’t make this s**t up. @mmfa is turning itself inside out to paint a country with no shit concentration camps as a victim of GOP 'fearmongering'," tweets Ingersoll.

He continues in the next tweet, "For people who aren’t idiots conducting apologetics ops for congressmen caught in the web of a truly abhorrent regime, it’s very clear that China IS recruiting at universities. Their efforts are well documented. It isn’t necessary to “fearmonger” about a country like China."

As far as "universities being 'easy targets'", Media Matters is probably referring to a recent speech by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at Georgia Tech, where he warned his audience about the multiple dangers of the overly-cozy relationship many institutions of higher education currently have with the Chinese Communist Party.

Ingersoll himself tweeted at the end of the string of tweets about the issue:

"Literally the second autofill on Google is 'arrested' because so many goddamn US professors have been busted selling secrets. Or maybe it’s because they’ve been arresting their own dissidents. Can’t tell which, both are true."
