"They literally threw the bomb over my head while I was talking about inclusion."
Video taken on Saturday outside New York City’s Gracie Mansion showed the moment one of two men arrested for an alleged ISIS-inspired bombing attempt used a left-wing protester as a launching pad to chuck an explosive device. The protester has spoken out, saying he stands by what he was saying at the moment he was used by one of the arrestees, that everyone is welcome in New York.
Comedian Walter Masterson said after playing the clip of the moment, "that’s me in the video getting a bomb thrown over my head. Let me just give you some context for what was happening. So this was at a rally hosted by white supremacist Jake Lang. He’s a domestic terrorist from January 6, pardoned by Donald Trump. He was holding an anti-Muslim rally when this guy jumped over me and committed an act of terrorism."
Diving into more detail about the day, Masterson said, "So Jake Lang was holding the rally. He’s known for three things: being a domestic terrorist from January 6 pardoned by Donald Trump, losing to the letter S, and, as we found out today, grooming 15-year-old girls. Jake Lang was holding this rally saying things like this: 'America is a white, Christian country.' If you’re saying America is for white Christian men, you’re a white supremacist."
Masterson said he made a "huge mistake in not taking cover after this explosive device was thrown," adding that if someone throws something that looks like an explosive device at a public event, "you’re not a wimp for taking cover."
"We were counter-protesting, making Jake Lang look like the idiot that he is, when these two idiots came along and committed an act of terrorism. They could not have done more to legitimize Jake Lang’s white supremacist talking points. They literally threw the bomb over my head while I was talking about inclusion. The CIA should definitely be paying them at this point."
He continued, "I just want to reiterate that I was not practicing safety that day, I could have been killed, and that weighs very heavy on both me and my family, and all that being said, I'm not going to use this as an excuse to be a xenophobic bigot."
"Elon Musk and all of right-wing media are having a field day right now because I am choosing inclusion and not bigotry. I still stand by my original point, which is I'm a native New Yorker. I was born and raised in New York. New York City is for everyone, except for terrorists who throw bombs and goat-f*cking white supremacists like Jake Lang."
Emir Balat, 18, and Ibrahim Kayumi, 19, have been charged with attempting an ISIS-inspired bombing outside the mayor’s mansion on Saturday. The two are alleged to have attempted to detonate two explosive devices amid a protest and counter-protest in the area, and a third explosive device was discovered in a nearby car linked to the suspects.
The two have been charged with attempted provision of material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization, use of a weapon of mass destruction, transportation of explosive materials, interstate transportation and receipt of explosives, and unlawful possession of destructive devices.
