"I don’t care how you feel about Joe Biden, you must vote for him because the consequences on the other side are too severe," Comey said.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s Alex Wagner Tonight on Tuesday, former FBI director James Comey declared that voters must vote for Joe Biden no matter how they feel about him, because "the consequences on the other side are too severe," stating that Trump is "coming" for the Justice Department and FBI. The FBI raided Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in the the summer of 2022 at the instruction of Biden's Attorney General Merrick Garland.
"I mean, when you think about a second Trump administration, what do you think the implications would be for the FBI," host Alex Wagner asked.
Comey said it would be "serious for the Justice Department and the FBI because Trump is coming for those institutions."
"He knows their power and I think he has regrets that he didn’t work hard enough to corrupt them last time, so he’s coming for them and that’s a danger for all Americans. He’s gonna put people in positions in those organizations, he didn’t have all-stars last time, he’ll have the bottom of the barrel this time" that will "do his will."
"This election matters because of a reason like that, people have to participate. You cannot sit on the sideline. I don’t care how you feel about Joe Biden, you must vote for him because the consequences on the other side are too severe."
Comey’s statement came after it was revealed that the FBI had authorized "use of deadly force" in the raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Another unsealed document titled “Contingencies,” said that FBI agents were told to be prepared to “engage with [Trump] and [his US Secret Service] Team" when they entered Mar-a-Lago.
The FBI also had a medic at the scene in case of injuries during the raid and identified a local trauma center if anyone was hurt during the operation at Mar-a-Lago.
