The parent company of President Donald Trump's social media platform Truth Social, the Trump Media and Technology Group Corp., and Rumble have sued the Supreme Court of Brazil over the issue of free speech protections.

According to Just the News, the two companies filed a lawsuit which stated, "Justice Moraes has issued sweeping orders to suspend multiple US-based accounts ('Banned Accounts') of a well known politically outspoken user ('Political Dissident A'), ensuring no person in the United States can see his content ('Gag Orders')."

The filing charged that "the Gag Orders, as issued, censor legitimate political discourse in the United States, undermining fundamental constitutional protections enshrined in the First Amendment, clashing with the Communications Decency Act, and defying basic comity principles."

Trump Media and Technology Group Corp. CEO Devin Nunes said, “TMTG is firmly committed to upholding the right to free expression. This is not just a slogan, it’s the core mission of this company. We’re proud to join our partner Rumble in standing against unjust demands for political censorship regardless of who makes them."

The lawsuit comes amid backlash from European leaders over Vice President JD Vance’s speech to officials at the Munich Security Conference where he demanded that western nations start abiding by principles of free speech as well as well as the legitimate results of elections.

Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who has gotten into free speech battles with Trump ally and X owner Elon Musk, is named in the suit. Moraes has previously taken steps to censor online speech on X in Brazil as well as Rumble
