The family of Austin Metcalf, the teen who was stabbed to death by convicted murderer Karmelo Anthony, has been inundated with dozens of threats of death and violence against them, according to a report at TMZ.

The outlet cited sources connected to the trial, saying that while the Metcalf family has received death threats since Anthony was arrested for the teen's murder, the number of threats drastically increased following the verdict finding Anthony guilty of murdering Metcalf.

One string of messages obtained by the outlet that were sent to the family read: "Your just mad bc Austin is no longer living," "Should've stabbed hunter too," "Didn't you beat Meghan too I blame you," "He f*cked around and found out."

Hunter is Austin's twin brother, and saw his brother die in his own arms after the stabbing. Additionally, people have been threatening to show up to the Metcalf family home and claim to be soiling Metcalf's grave, according to TMZ.

Anthony claimed the stabbing was in self-defense, but witnesses said that he instigated the confrontation that day in Frisco, Texas in April 2025. According to witnesses in the trial, when Anthony entered Metcalf's team tent at a track and field event, he was told multiple times to leave.

After refusing to leave, Anthony said, "Touch me and see what happens." At that point, Metcalf shoved Anthony to leave the tent, and Anthony stabbed him in his chest in response, puncturing the teenager's heart and killing him.

Anthony was found guilty of first-degree murder earlier this week and sentenced to 35 years in prison. His legal team has said that they will appeal the ruling.
