A man in Kelowna, BC who approached four young girls on the street on Monday afternoon and suggested that they "play with his dog" in his van has been found by the RCMP to not have any criminal intent.

The RCMP say that they were called following the incident, which happened in the Mission neighborhood of Kelowna, on Forest Edge Rd.

A man pulled up to four young girls (unknown to him) who were playing in the area. He then asked them if they wanted to play with his dog. He indeed did have a small dog with him in his van.

The girls refused his offer and immediately ran away to a relative's house, where they told adults what had happened. The RCMP were called immediately.

Authorities tracked the man down and interviewed him, determining that they could not find evidence of criminal intent on the man's part.

According to Global News, Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy of the RCMP stated:

“He deeply regrets causing the children, their families and the community concern. We have also determined that this incident is not related to any of the other recent reports." This last sentence refers to a similar incident on Thursday where a stranger asked two boys if they wanted a ride.

"In general, please remember that you should never attempt to interact with, or pick up, children that you don’t know. If you are concerned for a child in the community, please call the police in your jurisdiction immediately and we will follow up and ensure their safety."
