Conservative advocacy group Democracy Restored released a report on Wednesday that shows a multi-year campaign of attorney disciplinary complaints aimed at lawyers who joined the Trump administration, represented Republican clients, and advanced election challenges. The investigation examined 181 bar complaints and related filings across 34 jurisdictions in 26 states between 2016 and 2026.

The filings targeted 122 lawyers, 44 non-lawyers, and five law firms. There were also 92 complaints regarding disputes over the 2020 election, according to the group's summary of its findings.

Additionally, the organization said it identified $16.4 million in documented funding tied to the effort, which the group labeled "Lawfare Consortium." The key figure behind the 65 Project lawfare is David Brock, founder of Media Matters.

Brock is quoted in the materials saying that the aim was to "shame them and make them toxic" in their communities. The 65 Project accounted for 84 of the logged complaints.

The most-targeted individuals include former Attorney General Pam Bondi, Attorney General Todd Blanche, John Eastman, Emil Bove, Kenneth Chesebro, Lindsey Halligan, Kris Kobach, and Jenna Ellis. Recorded outcomes include 12 disbarments, eight suspensions, and a smaller number of other disciplinary actions.

The findings were presented by Democracy Restored senior counsel Karin Sweigart at an event hosted by the Conservative Partnership Institute, the Claremont Institute, the Oversight Project, and American Ascent.

Other left-wing organizations that filed complaints include the Legal Accountability Center, the Campaign for Accountability, States United Democracy Center, Lawyers Defending Democracy, and others.
