David Lacey, the husband of LA county District Attorney Jackie Lacey, was hit with charges for allegedly pulling a gun on protestors who confronted him at home. The incident happened on March 2 when Black Lives Matter activists came to his house, according to Politico.

BLM activist Xavier Becerra filed charges against Lacey. The Laceys insist that David reacted out of fear when protestors showed up en masse at the front door, demanding to speak with the DA. David answered the door and was alleged to have drawn a firearm and told protestors to vacate the property.

The LAPD was called in to investigate, but no arrests were made or charges laid on either side at the time of the incident.

The Laceys held a press conference to tell their side of the story, and David went offered a public apology for the events of the incident. According to Jackie Lacey, "his response was in fear … He meant no one any harm."

BLM has used the tactic of showing up at prominent homes in great number more than once in recent months. This appears to be a favorite move of theirs, and has happened across the nation.

There are suspicions that the prosecution has political motivations behind the charges, since Jackie Lacey as the incumbent DA is about to enter into a hotly contested election against opponent George Gascón. Lacey is seen as being tough on crime, and because of this, is very popular with some segments of her constituents and unpopular with others. There is some speculation that criminal justice activists are trying to target her re-election.

Lacey's office has not made itself available for further comment yet.
