Maine trans Senate hopeful claims he has a menstrual 'cycle' where he 'leaks mucus' and doctors can't explain it

Ashley Webb, a trans-identified male running for the Democrat nomination for US Senate in Maine, has claimed that he gets a "cycle" in which he leaks a "mucus," and that he is allegedly intersex.

In a podcast released on Sunday, Webb spoke on symptoms he was having and attempts to track down his birth records, which he claimed have been destroyed. 

Speaking on allegedly being intersex, Webb said he found out through "medical records that don’t add up, and birth records." Webb said that when he was born, the hospital admin had signed off on his birth record, and it was filed over 30 days after Webb was born. He said his mother was told that the delay was due to the hospital being out of birth forms, and that when he asked the town clerk about it, the clerk said that the admin had never signed any other birth certificates. 

"Unfortunately, they only retained birth records for 20 years and mine got destroyed," Webb said. "So now I’m not going to get an answer as to why they did that." 

He said he started digging into his birth records because he had a blood test that showed an estrogen level of 285 pg/ml, without being on hormones. He said he asked for his estrogen level to be run because he was experiencing "hot flashes." 

He recalled having a "cycle," in which "I would feel really good on like the 15th day of every cycle and it was a 29-day cycle that I was experiencing." He said that during this time, "I also leak like a mucus which they can’t really explain." 

Webb said he calls himself transgender because "the doctors gave me the label and I want to keep it because, like, the intersex community pretty much tossed me out." He said he "annoyed" the intersex community.

Webb is part of the field of Democrat candidates seeking to take over the nomination that had been held by Graham Platner, who suspended his Senate campaign earlier in July after allegations of rape rose against him. The Democrat nominee will go on to face off against incumbent Susan Collins.

During a recent event in which eight Democrat hopefuls spoke on their positions, Webb said, when asked what made him qualified for the role, that he had run for office "several times," and said " I'm a songwriter, and then I write my own books. And then I suppose my transparency, I wouldn't lie to the people, and I wouldn't deceive the people like we're being deceived right now. Like we get lied, smoke, smoke and mirrors, like what's going on with ICE? Pretend, like pretending these victims did something wrong."
