He was only wearing underwear at the time.
The residents of the home have claimed that the suspect, who has not yet been publicly identified, targeted them because they were Jewish.
According to to CBS News, the incident took place shortly after 5 a.m. at a home on the 3000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. Police were called to the scene by the inhabitants after the man managed to break in.
One woman who lived at the home told police that they had been locked in a room with four children while the man threatened them.
Officers finally showed up and took the barely clothed suspect away, and while he was being arrested, he was caught on camera shouting "Free Palestine" and "brown people matter." He was placed in an ambulance; however, it is unclear what injuries, if any, he sustained.
According to Fox LA, authorities believe the man may have been under the influence of drugs, given the fact that he was only wearing underwear at the time.
Law enforcement originally labeled the incident a burglary; however, it is now being investigated as a potential hate crime. Nonetheless, they have reassured the Jewish community in LA that it appears to be an isolated incident.
This is a developing story.
