The state of Wisconsin on Friday entered into a plea bargain with Dominick Black, the man who obtained the AR15 later used by Kyle Rittenhouse to defend himself.
Under the terms of the deal, Black will receive a non-criminal citation, which will have him pay $2000 as a fine. No criminal charges whatsoever will be on his record, and no further legal action will be taken in the matter.
According to the Washington Examiner, the state of Wisconsin had previously charged Black with two counts of providing a firearm to a minor, because Rittenhouse was 17 years old at the time he received the gun from Black.
Black pleaded not guilty at the time, arguing that if the gun were legal for Rittenhouse to possess, then it had to be also legal for someone to give the gun to him.
It also apparently doesn't matter legally that the gun was later used in a fatal shooting, as this was after the fact.
The plea agreement, although having been filed on Friday, will still need the relevant judge - the same Judge Bruce Schroeder who presided over the Rittenhouse trial - to sign off on it. Most people are seeing that final step of the process as a probable rubber-stamp type procedure.
