A night of dining and celebration at the Sky Meadow Country Club turned tragic Saturday when a gunman opened fire, killing one man and injuring several others before being taken into custody.

According to Nashua police, multiple law enforcement agencies and first responders rushed to the scene after reports of shots being fired around 9 pm. Witnesses said the shooter entered the facility during a function, while guests were dining at Prime Restaurant. According to The Patch, one witness reported hearing the suspect shout, Free Palestine, before firing into the crowd.

Hunter Nadeau, 23, has been charged with murder following the arrest on Saturday.

Authorities confirmed that at least three victims were transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center by a Bearcat armored vehicle. One man was reportedly shot in the face. A triage area was set up at the Spit Brook Fire Station and East Dunstable Road, and nine ambulances responded. Massachusetts State Police also assisted, as parts of the country club extend into Dunstable, Massachusetts.

Initial reports of multiple shooters were later corrected by Nashua police. “Video surveillance has confirmed there was only one shooter, and they are currently being detained,” police posted on X. “The scene is still an active investigation, but there is no further danger to the public.”

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office confirmed late Saturday that one man had been killed. The suspected shooter was detained on-scene by Nashua police officers. Officials emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

In neighboring Dunstable, Massachusetts, less than 10 miles from the country club, which features an 18-hole golf course, upscale dining, and event facilities, officials issued a shelter-in-place order for Thorndike Street, High Street, and Hardy Street as a precaution.

Authorities also designated the Sheraton Hotel on Tara Boulevard in Nashua as a unification site for families.

“My team and I are closely monitoring reports of the horrific tragedy at Sky Meadow Country Club tonight,” Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) wrote on X. “Billy and I are praying for those injured. There is no place in our state for this type of senseless violence.”

Democratic Rep. Maggie Goodlander also posted: “I’m closely monitoring the tragic reports of a shooting tonight at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua. My heart is with the victims, their families, and the entire Nashua community as we await more information.”
