The latest episode of The Mandalorian, a Star Wars spinoff show on Disney+, features guest star appearances by Lizzo and Jack Black in what is the lowest-rated entry in the series to date.
The episode, titled Chapter 22: Guns for Hire, rests with an IMDb rating of 6.6 which is the lowest to date on the site and according to Bounding into Comics, "With just six episodes released so far in the current season, three of them are the worst reviewed of the entire series."
Season three of The Mandalorian has also seen a steep drop off in audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 1 came in with 92 percent and season 2 with 91 percent approval, but season three so far has an audience score of 64 percent.
One Star Wars fan wrote on Twitter that the latest episode was the worst he has ever seen and that showrunner Jon Favreau and episode director Bryce Dallas Howard should be ashamed of themselves for making it.
Many were posting the clip on social media of Lizzo and Black interacting with Mando, voiced by Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackoff's Bo-Katan and another character, Commissioner Helgait, played by Christopher Lloyd.
"Not gonna lie, I'm pretty glad I called it quits on the Mandalorian a few weeks ago," wrote the Critical Drinker.
Lizzo played royalty in the Star Wars universe and in one scene she knighted the small Grogu. That Star Wars Girl wrote, "As terrible as this clip is at least Lizzo is actually wearing clothes & doesn’t have her whole a** out like she usually does."
Some blamed the show dropping off on going "woke."
Seasons one and two of the show were generally well-received by fans and audience alike, a rarity in the otherwise polarizing Disney era of Star Wars under Kathleen Kennedy's leadership, which included an overt insertion of left-wing politics and promise that under her direction "the force is female."
Disney's ownership of the property has seen multiple series and films produced annually in a quantity over quality philosophy with The Mandalorian being the longest-running television show in its canon.
Season three's Nielson ratings have also dropped off, with 823 million minutes watched during its premiere week, down from 1.03 billion minutes for season 2.
Season three is the first of the show not to feature Gina Carano as fan-favorite character Cara Dune. Disney fired Carano after a social media post where she compared "hating someone for their political views" in the modern era to the fervor that eventually led to Nazi Germany.
Many speculated her heterodox opinions on left-wing ideology influenced Disney's decision.
