Manhunt underway after police mistakenly release inmate from jail in Milton, Ontario

Law enforcement officials are currently searching for a 28-year-old inmate who was released by mistake from Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton.

Law enforcement officials in Halton Region have reported that they are currently searching for a 28-year-old inmate who was released by mistake from Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton, CP24 reported.

Officers confirmed that Amritpal Singh Aujla was released sometime Monday before staff at the jail contacted police later in the day to inform them of the error.

Aujla has been described as a South Asian male, weighing around 170 pounds and standing at five-feet-ten inches tall. He was reported to have left the facility on foot.

The police said that Aujla has black hair down to his shoulders with a black beard, adding that he was wearing a Tommy Hilfiger tracksuit when he was last seen.

Anyone with information as to Aujla whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
