Actor Mark Hamill posted an image on notoriously left-wing social media platform BlueSky that depicted President Donald J. Trump dead in a grave with the words “If Only” as a caption. The post comes amid heightened concerns over threats against the president following yet another assassination attempt.

The image shows a gravestone that reads “DONALD J. TRUMP 1946–2024,” alongside Trump lying dead in the dirt below it. The phrase “If Only” was written prominently across the graphic.

Hamill expanded on the message in his post text, suggesting he would prefer that Trump live a while longer so that he could suffer defeat and humiliation:

"If Only," he said, repeating the words from the photo. "He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he'll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. #don_TheCON."

The post quickly spread online, with critics pointing to the violent nature of the image and the timing of the message given the ongoing security concerns surrounding the president.

Those concerns intensified again this week after the Justice Department announced charges against 35-year-old Dean DelleChiaie, a Federal Aviation Administration employee from New Hampshire accused of threatening to kill Trump. Prosecutors say DelleChiaie used a government computer to research ways to smuggle a firearm into a federal facility, along with prior assassination attempts involving the president.

This comes just days after Cole Allen was charged following gunfire outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where prosecutors said Trump was his ultimate target.

In response to the WHCD shooting, Hamill posted on BlueSky, questioning whether or not the attack may have been a hoax.

Including the Allen WHCD attack, Trump has been the target of three assassination attempts since 2024. Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire during a 2024 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, injuring Trump and killing rally attendee Corey Comperatore before being fatally shot by Secret Service personnel. In a separate case, Ryan Routh targeted Trump at one of his Florida golf properties. Authorities discovered him armed near the course.

Days before the shocking post, Hamill posted a video of himself palling around with Barack Obama in promotion of Obama's new presidential library.
