According to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, Canada is set for a deficit of $328.5 billion this year. It’s the largest budget deficit in over 50 years of applicable data, as a percentage of our GDP.
Yet, amid these massive deficits, the Trudeau Liberals have decided to give even more of your money to foreign countries. Trudeau is giving $400 million more in "development and humanitarian spending.’="
Trudeau pledged the money while speaking to the United Nations.
“Canada believes that a strong, coordinated response across the world and across sectors is essential. This pandemic has provided an opportunity for a reset. This is our chance to accelerate our pre-pandemic efforts to reimagine economic systems that actually address global challenges like extreme poverty, inequality, and climate change,” said Trudeau.
Trudeau has already increased foreign aid previously, both before and during the pandemic.
Of course, as I’ve often said, it is tough to justify increasing foreign aid at any time, particularly when there is so much suffering here in Canada.
As we know, the Canadian government is supposed to exist to serve the Canadian people, not foreign countries, and not foreign interests like the United Nations.
With so many serious problems happening in Canada, including the ongoing opioid epidemic, a rising mental health crisis, and rising suicides, it is simply unacceptable for our tax dollars to be taken—without our consent—and given to foreign countries and foreign institutions.
Making this worse is that Trudeau continues to double-down on linking Canada with foreign institutions like the UN, despite those institutions having been increasingly discredited.
For example, the WHO believed propaganda from China, and repeatedly put out misinformation on the virus, before making endless crazy reversals and demonstrating total incompetence.
Increasing reliance on discredited institutions, and giving more of our money to foreign countries will simply weaken Canada and put us at further risk. Intuitively, we can realize that the more dependent we are on foreign countries and institutions—which we don’t control—the less power we have over our own country.
We become dependent on the decisions of others, a world away, and when another crisis hits, we will be vulnerable again.
Remember, the countries that ignored the UN and the WHO did the best during the crisis – particularly Taiwan – and instead of learning from that experience, Trudeau is doing the exact opposite.
Once again, we see that Trudeau would rather serve the interests of foreign institutions rather than serving the Canadian people.
