During President Donald Trump's visit to California to meet with victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, First Lady Melania Trump went viral for a heartwarming interaction speaking to a woman who lost her home in her native language.

A video of the exchange, posted on X, quickly gained millions of views. Melania, who has fluency in six languages—Slovenian, Italian, French, German, English, and Serbian—spoke to the woman in her native language.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, one commenter translated the conversation, explaining that the woman introduced herself and shared that she had lived in California since childhood. The First Lady asked about her family, and the woman responded that she had two sons.

The uplifting moment came as President Trump toured the state, addressing the aftermath of the wildfires that have destroyed over 10,000 structures and claimed nearly 30 lives. Trump's visit included a tense meeting with local officials, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. At a roundtable discussion, Trump criticized Bass for delays in allowing residents to see their properties that were ravaged by the fires.

“Everyone's standing in front of their house. They want to go to work, but they're not allowed to do it,” Trump told Bass at the time.

The president also met with California Governor Gavin Newsom, whom he has criticized for inadequate wildfire preparedness and a lack of proactive measures. Despite their previous heated exchanges, Newsom expressed gratitude for the president’s visit and support.

"Thank you first for being here. It means a great deal to all of us," Newsom told Trump after greeting him at LAX "We’re going to need your support. We’re going to need your help."
