'Moderate' Dem Senate candidate in Arkansas would trade '5 Americans' for 1 illegal alien

Arkansas Democrat Hallie Shoffner has said that she would trade “five Americans for” one illegal immigrant worker on a farm because, she claimed, they work harder than Americans.

She made the comments about farm labor and said that it is an open secret that farmers use illegal immigrant labor.

“Every farmer will tell you, yeah. At one point, we did, or still do, employ undocumented immigrants,” she said to “Free Arkansas” podcast host Andy McNeill in a recent appearance.

“It's absolutely ridiculous that these folks are being rounded up because they're hardworking people. They're some of the best people we know. And honestly, we’d trade five Americans for just one of them because of how hard they work,” she added.

“And why is it that there's no pathway for them to work here legally when they're good workers? We pay them well. They spend money here. They have family here.”

Shoffner is running against incumbent Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas in the upcoming general election. According to a poll conducted by J.L. Partners in mid-August, Cotton is heavily favored to win re-election with 51 percent of the vote to Shoffner’s 35 percent. Libertarian candidate Jeff Wadlin is pulling just 4 percent while 11 percent are not sure.

Shoffner has presented herself during her campaign as a moderate Democrat on issues. However, she has gotten pushback on topics such as pushing for the Green New Deal and Biden's Inflation Reduction Act, which spent billions on climate change activism projects.
