A 15-year-old girl who was shot late Sunday night has succumbed to her injuries, CP24 reports.

The girl was reportedly occupying a car with one other person. While the car was stopped, she and the other occupant were conversing with people outside of the car. A second car pulled up and shot at the vehicle.

A second man, 21, was also shot at the scene in the upper body while walking on the sidewalk. He was able to take cover from the shooting a block away before being taken to hospital, where he is expected to recover.

Police have not released the names of the victims.

The vehicle where the shots originated from drove off after the shooting, and police say it is difficult to identify who the occupants were as they were wearing masks. As of now, police have offered no description of suspects beyond having been wearing masks.

The shooting is the fifth homicide in Montreal since the beginning of 2021.
