"I’m actually glad you’re printing this bullsh*t though because at least now the rest of the press corps will see how sh*tty your 'sources' are."
Trump Jr told reporters at the outlet, "I accurately predicted that my buddy JD would be an instant power player in national GOP politics, so your theory is that I worked my a** off to help get him the VP nomination because I want to run for president in 2028?"
"Are you f*cking retarded? I’m actually glad you’re printing this bullsh*t though because at least now the rest of the press corps will see how sh*tty your 'sources' are and how easily you’re played by them. Congrats, moron," Trump Jr added.
Trump Jr later posted on X, "LOL A lot of fake stories have been written about me over the years, but this might be the most obviously fake one yet. Congrats to @dianafalzone & @Mediaite for embarrassing themselves. You guys got played and now all your friends in the press are mocking you behind your back."
Mediaite reported that three sources close to the Trumps said Trump Jr would be making the presidential run. One source claimed that the president's son will "one hundred percent" run for the role. The outlet teed up the report, leading with a quote from President Trump where he said that Vance was not an automatic successor for him.
When Trump was asked by Brett Baier last month if he thought JD Vance would be the next GOP politician to run for president after Trump, the president said, "No, but he’s very capable. I mean, I don’t think that it, you know, I think you have a lot of very capable people. So far, I think he’s doing a fantastic job. It’s too early, we’re just starting."
The outlet said that another source claimed of Trump Jr that he is a "real possibility to be a contender in 2028" because of how politically active he is with his father.
