People familiar with the matter said that while Hunter Biden is regularly at the White House, it is unusual for him to be at these meetings President Biden is having with his team.
Since returning to Washington, DC on Monday from Camp David, Hunter Biden has reportedly been joining meetings with his father and top aides, and talking with senior White House staff, four people familiar with the matter told NBC News.
The people said that while Hunter Biden is regularly at the White House, it is unusual for him to be at these meetings President Biden is having with his team, and Joe Biden’s aides "were struck by his presence during their discussions," NBC News reported.
One of the people familiar with the matter said that Hunter Biden has been closely advising his father since the Biden family gathered at Camp David following President Biden’s dismal performance at the CNN presidential debate.
The person said that Hunter Biden has "popped into" a few meetings and calls President Biden has had with his advisors. Another person told the outlet that the reaction from White House senior staff has been, "What the hell is happening?"
White House spokesman Andrew Bates told the outlet, "Hunter came back with the President from their family weekend at Camp David and went with the President straight into speech prep," referring to Biden’s Monday night address on the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity decision.
