Disgraced former Trudeau advisor fails in attempt to smear The Post Millennial on Twitter

"This is fun," said Butts. "Scheer’s senior staff sent an email asking supporters to promote a smear job on me at 5:41 pm on Monday ... Then the P*st Millenial [sic] published a piece. All of it based [on] lies which they all know are lies."

Perhaps this argument would have been more robust if he didn't spell the word 'Millennial' wrong (in all fairness, it's a complicated word).

The two articles that Butts was referring to were reports on his appointment to an environmental position in Ottawa (which is true), and an article regarding his criticism of Boris Johnson's advisor Dominic Cummings.

The latter of the two articles highlighted Butts' hypocrisy: Cummings broke lockdown rules so to provide care for his child. Trudeau, on the other hand, broke lockdown twice to visit his cottage in Quebec—not out of necessity, but for his personal leisure.

Butts, being the heartless, political hack that he is, failed to comment on Trudeau's rule-breaking, instead choosing to direct his feeble scorn at the government of our closest ally.

Needless to say, Butts has come to personify the elitism and patron-clientelism of the Trudeau government. It is for this reason that The Post Millennial keeps an eye on him.

Trudeau's former top man first caught the public's attention during the SNC-Lavalin scandal, where he orchestrated and participated in attempts to pressure former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould to go easy on SNC-Lavalin.

SNC-Lavalin is the Quebec-based construction firm, whose activity in Libya between 2001 and 2011 is the subject of bribery and corruption charges.

The Trudeau government ended up forcing Wilson-Raybould—Canada's first First Nation attorney general—out of the Liberal caucus.

This scandal nearly brought down the Trudeau government, and Butts subsequently resigned.

As a result of all this, The Post Millennial isn't particularly enthusiastic about taking moral lessons from Gerry, a discredited former staffer who sacrificed morality for power.
