Indian man claims ICE nabbed nurse wife, then California cops find her remains and charge him with murder
“As the investigation progressed, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office detectives identified several inconsistencies in Gurinder’s statements about his wife’s disappearance.”
A Sacramento man claimed his wife was taken by ICE, but it turns out he probably killed her. The woman's remains were found burned and buried despite Gurinder Gill's claim that federal immigration enforcement agents nabbed her while she was getting the mail. The two were in the process of a divorce and custody fight. Her cousin reported her missing after she was last seen on September 30.
Gill told cops that his missing wife was detained, but authorities in the next county over had found a woman's remains and those remains were later identified as Gill's wife, Jasmine. "As the investigation progressed, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office detectives identified several inconsistencies in Gurinder’s statements about his wife’s disappearance," said Sgt. Edward Igoe.
Gill's home was searched, along with another property. Igoe said that "Detectives contacted ICE, which confirmed that no enforcement activity had occurred at the residence." After his arrest, he was not given bail and will remain in custody.
Jasmine, 30, was from India, worked as a nurse, and was mother to the couple's 8-month-old child. A GoFundMe was launched to raise money to bring her body back to India. They have raised over $26,000 of an asked for $75,000 so far.
The donations, the campaign writes, "will provide support for Jasmine's grieving mother and her baby boy during this incredibly difficult time. Funds raised will help the family for any costs they are responsible for bringing Jasmine to her mother in India, and will help for her final funeral arrangements. Contributions will also help with expenses related to the baby’s care, well-being, and future, including any legal costs. Every donation will help ease the family’s financial burden as they navigate this heartbreaking loss and work toward a safe, stable future for Jasmine’s son."
