An investigation into the Trump Organization has revealed not a mountain of dirt, but instead that a CFO benefitted from company perks investigators say is "untaxed" income.
On Thursday’s episode of the Dinesh D’Souza Podcast, D’Souza outlined the findings of this investigation he called a "witch hunt."
D’Souza said the left has been "hoping and salivating" for "the day when they would get Trump and the day that they would get the Trump Organization on criminal charges. Well, that day’s here, and the criminal charges have come down, but they're not quite what the left was expecting," said D’Souza.
"They thought that a searching examination of Trump, his dealings, the Trump corporations, would find a slew of atrocious violations or shoddy business practices, corrupt dealings, backroom payments, all kinds of illegality. And yet, despite a thorough review of tens of thousands of pages, they've come up basically with well, virtually nothing," D’Souza continued. "Nothing to be more precise."
Charges have been filed against the Trump Organization’s Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg for tax fraud, conspiracy, grand larceny and falsifying business records, to which he plead not guilty to all on Thursday.
"Apparently, he has benefited from 'tens of thousands of dollars' and now quoting from the New York Times in 'private school tuition that was paid by the Trump Organization.' In short, he benefited from a company perk," said D’Souza. "And evidently the perks extended to 'subsidies for’'rent on apartments and car leases.'"
"Are you serious? First of all companies all around the country, if not the world provide perks," D’Souza pointed out. "Part of your job benefits are going to be healthcare and will pay for this and will pay for that. And I guess the government is alleging that you know what this is a way to this is a clever way to evade taxes."
D’Souza goes on to explain that all company perks, like school tuition benefits, are not declared as normal income. "One major rationale for doing that was essentially that the beneficiaries, the employees wouldn't have to pay taxes," he said.
"So nothing that is done here is out of the ordinary in any way," he added.
"And what you have here is a vicious, ruthless prosecutorial operation when I'm very familiar with the Southern District of New York. In this case, it's headed by this guy named Cyrus Vance, a partisan Democrat. And these are people who have been out to get a Trump and they can't get drunk, but they're going to try to get this guy Mr. Weisselberg."
D’Souza explained that the Southern District of New York, headed by Cyrus Vance, and a district D’Souza got well acquainted with during a 2014 court case, is attempting to get Weisselberg to flip on Trump.
"And so their idea is to get him on something and then use that as leverage to make him turn on Trump. Well, his lawyers have said, 'Good luck, that's not going to happen.' He's not going to turn on Trump. There's nothing to turn on Trump for," said D’Souza.
D’Souza also slammed President Joe Biden for previously stating that he wasn’t involved in his son’s business dealing, and yet was pictured with "a bunch of corrupt Mexican officials" at Hunter Biden’s business meetings.
"And and so there's plenty of material here for prosecution. And so I think there are really two dogs here that haven't barked, the first dog that hasn't barked is you aren't going after Joe Biden for doing things 100 times worse than anything that Trump has ever done. And the second dog that has embarked is you looked at Trump. And this is all you got," said D’Souza.
"I mean, here's a guy who has a giant enterprise who's building biz built hotels and Wollman rink, and he's built towers and developed real estate and he's got properties abroad, you would think that any corporation you could always find, well, this went wrong, and that went wrong… And after this massive review, all they got is you provided Mr. Weisselberg with some free tuition for his kid to go to a prep school," D’Souza added.
"I think what it really shows is contrary to what the left portrays, it shows the cleanliness of Trump. This guy is actually abnormally squeaky clean, almost any other businessman in his position would have a lot more to answer for. So I think Trump comes out of this looking terrific, looking fantastic," he continued.
D’Souza goes on to slam the Southern District of New York for carrying out a "corrupt operation."
This is a an infestation of power hungry bureaucrats who are trying to make their name in New York and in the corrupt politics of New York." Said D’Souza, adding that the Attorney General had campaigned on the promise of going after trump not just in civil suits, but in criminal suits as well.
"In other words, an investigation in search of a crime. And since they've got as I say, this massive arsenal of statutes to pull from, they're gonna they were bound to find something that something that they found is a big nothing."
"But if it affirms anything, it affirms the truth of Trump's claim that he is being not just prosecuted but persecuted." D’Souza concluded.
