12 men arrested in Surrey BC after filming TikTok video with fake guns

Surrey RCMP received a call shortly before 7 pm involving reports of a man carrying a weapon and dragging another man into some bushes.

Many officers responded to the scene and arrested 12 men when they arrived. The men were all between 25 and 30 years of age.

The police officers were soon told that the group was recording a TikTok video with two airsoft guns, a baseball bat, a chair and some rope.

“Police have a duty to respond to all weapons calls as legitimate public safety concerns,” said Cpl. Elenore Sturko in a media release. “This group of young men put themselves and others at risk as a result of their poor decision making.

“Airsoft pistols and other replica firearms are best left at home, or better yet, for the safety and well-being of our community, please don’t buy one.”

The men were then issued a $200 bylaw tickets falling under the Parks Regulation Bylaw. Section 33 of the bylaw does not allow airguns to be carried in parks without a general manager’s written permission.
