A group of United Conservative Party MLAs have signed a letter to Albertans, saying that they were disappointed to see Premier Kenney move the province "backwards."
Yesterday, Premier Kenney tightened lockdown restrictions in response to heightened COVID cases. He told his province that Alberta must "defeat these varients."
As a result of this, a group of 15 MLAs (including the legislature's speaker) wrote a letter to the province, saying that they "acknowledge the physical and mental health effects that Covid-19 has taken on the vulnerable members of our population."

The announcement, they added, "is the wrong decision."
This rebellion will be bad news for Kenney who seems to be the only leader in Canada who has been polling negatively in the pandemic. In Ontario, Premier Ford has been strict with lockdown dissidents, expelling two members of his caucus.
The letter also stated that in spite of these MLAs raising concerns over the consequences of the lockdown, the government's approach "has remained the same.
