2,349 ballots with no date to be counted in Pennsylvania

The Board of Elections for Allegheny County, Penn., decided on Tuesday in a 2-1 decision to allow the count of 2,349 ballots that have no date on the outer envelope.

County Solicitor for Allegheny County, Andrew Szefi, commented:

"They [the voters who forgot to date their ballots] applied on time, received their ballots, voted their ballots, returned them on time with their signature, their printed name, their address — the only thing they're missing is their date. They were received timely, and our… ballot sorting machine imprints a date received on each envelope as they're scanned."

"We've taken a hard look at this. The legal principle at issue here is the Elections Code should always be construed so as to favor enfranchisement over disenfranchisement. What we have here is essentially a technicality that we don’t want voters to get disenfranchised with."

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, The Trump campaign has taken a series of legal actions against the state of Pennsylvania and several related entities alleging that standards for voting in person were very much stricter than those of voting by mail.

"Election Day was November 3rd. This is plainly reckless and undermines faith in the system," said White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany in a tweet.

Others were quick to point out their dismay at how the election process has lacked the proper rigor and objectivity:

This isn't the only issue regarding a potential lack of partiality and fairness during the voting process within Pennsylvania, however. Also at issue was the Philadelphia vote-counting process, which denied what is legally defined as "meaningful access" to the ballot-counting process by observers by both parties.
