The City of Toronto is recalling some 62,000 Chinese-made surgical masks that were distributed to long-term care homes after they were discovered to be defective.
The City of Toronto is recalling some 62,000 Chinese-made surgical masks that were distributed to long-term care homes after they were discovered to be defective, according to the Toronto Sun.
These masks were originally made in China and were part of a $200,000 order for 4,000 boxes that Toronto had made.
Soon after Toronto started to distribute these masks, officials began to receive reports that they were tearing and ripping—making them entirely useless to those wishing to protect themselves from coronavirus.
As a result of these mask's low quality, Ontario health officials are now having to track down those who have used them in case they were exposed to coronavirus.
The City is now working with Doug Ford's provincial government to find new masks. This is a serious concern to officials within the province who were relying on the use and distribution of these masks to protect vulnerable people and healthcare workers within the province.
Ontario is not the only government who have had to deal with the shoddy Chinese manufacturing of masks. In late April, the Netherlands had to recall 600,000 masks that were made in China due to concerns of their low quality.
Spain has also had to recall 58,000 broken coronavirus test kits, made by a Chinese manufacturing company in Shenzhen.
Turkey, the Philippines, and Ukraine have also reported issues with Chinese coronavirus manufacturing, inflicting a serious dent on the Chinese Regime's "Mask Diplomacy."
