Aaron Gunn to explore running for leader of BC Liberals

Gunn has notably stood up to cancel culture in the province and nationwide, and has spoken out against statues being taken down in the name of "social justice."

According to Gunn, his final decision will be released soon and the choice will be one that constituents will be excited about. According to the True North, if Gunn runs, he will likely be facing the following opponents in the race:

• Gavin Dew, his Liberal colleague, and former candidate for the same position,
• Kevin Falcon, the province's former deputy premier,
• Vancouver-Langara MLA Michael Lee,
• Chamber of Commerce CEO Val Litwin, and
• Ellis Ross, another MLA from the Skeena riding.

"I will stop those who seek to undermine the foundation and identity of this country, whatever it takes. I promise you this, no matter what: I will not cower, I will not capitulate, and I will never let you down," said Gunn in his speech during an "uncancel" Canada Day celebration, in which he lambasted calls to cancel the national holiday. "Think about that for a second. A world without Canada."

Gunn further elaborated that he is forming an exploratory commission to analyze the viability of a party leadership run and plans to take their recommendation.

On the subject of statues—such as the one of former prime minister Sir. John A. Macdonald that was torn down in Victoria three years ago—being toppled all over the country, Gunn said that Macdonald is an individual "without whom, this country wouldn't even exist." A new leader will be elected on Feb. 5. Supporters of Gunn can pledge their vote online to "turn British Columbia around."
