Advisor to BC Premier who defended Tiananmen Square massacre says Uyghur genocide is ‘made up’

According to the Toronto Star, Bill Yee, who is also a retired provincial court judge, made the comments on March 31 in an interview with a Toronto-are Chinese-language radio station.

"They use these lies, and those politicians, but what kind of legal basis do they have to prove China has committed genocide?" said Yee. "That doesn't make sense."

The Chinese government broke every single article of the UN genocide convention against the Uyghers, and is clearly committing genocide, one legal report recently found.

The Canadian House of Commons also voted unanimously (sans the Trudeau cabinet) to recognize that a genocide is taking place in Xinjiang, China.

Yee's comments mimic those of the Chinese foreign ministry, who accused Canada of spewing "the lie of the century made up by extremely anti-China forces."

Yee called the genocide "made up" and that they were "lies."

"The so-called evidence from some people, does that mean they're fact? It needs to be objective," Yee continued. "Many people have ulterior motives, so have you thought about that?"

In 1993, Yee had also defended the actions of China's People's Liberation Army in the massacre of an unknown number of citizens during the Tiananmen Square massacre. Yee advocated for the celebration of National Day in Vancouver in the face of pro-democracy protestors and heavy opposition from Vancouver's Chinese community.
