Anti-Trump PBS anchor Yamiche Alcindor claims European leaders are healing from ‘deep scars’

This comes off the backdrop of President Biden’s first foreign trip. While in England he told the media he didn’t want to go back home to America because of how beautiful Cornwall was.

The statements made by Yamiche Alcindor in a recent MSNBC interview strongly resembles questions about “scars” and Biden trying to heal “traumatized” European leaders she made earlier this week.

The theme from Alcindor being “Trump’s America first policies bad, Biden doctrine of globalism good.”

“When I’ve been talking to experts I’ve been trying to explain to them. I covered the NATO and the G7 when President Trump was there. Those were the only summits as a reporter that I got to cover. And I said ‘what does a normal summit look like?’ And they said ‘well first, it doesn’t look anything like what you’ve experienced.’ The impulses of President Trump, former President Trump, the elbowing of leaders…. Uh, the calling into question not what should be done in these organizations, but whether or not they should even exist.”

The history of PBS Newshour’s White House correspondent during the Trump administration provides background into her heavy pro-Biden stance.

Her hard hitting questions to the former President included Alcindor demanding Trump disavow the term “Kung Flu” during the emergence of the pandemic, last year. A little over a week later Alcindor got called out by President Trump for asking a loaded question. Fast forward to August, Alcindor said the paraplegic Madison Cawthorn standing up out of his wheelchair for the pledge of allegiance was somehow him perpetuating white supremacy.

“European leaders were frankly scared, a lot of them were traumatized, there are deep scars in these relationships. And that’s why you see President Biden really leaning into what we’re calling the Biden doctrine. Of saying ‘here’s what America can do. Here are our ideals, here’s what we should be proud of. Here’s historically where America has always been, because one of the things that Biden administration officials have been underscoring when I talk to them is: when you look at American democracy, whether it’s Republicans or Democrat, they still had this feeling of America being a leader, and of America valuing our European allies. And that was lost for a large part when it comes to President Trump. Who was just openly hostile and was so mean in some ways to our European allies.”

(Yamiche Alcindor and former President Trump also clashed in 2018 and 2019).

Alcindor then leans all-in to President Biden being some kind of messiah. She says that there’s questions as to whether or not he could heal the “deep scars are really something that take, I’ve been told by experts, years. And there are a lot of European leaders who have been looking at America for a long time and wondering ‘what exactly is going on with that democracy?’ And it might take several election cycles, I’m being told, to really do some of the work of restoring trust in America.”
