Portland’s Antifa mayoral candidate leads Ted Wheeler by 11 points

Wheeler was reported to be polling at just 30 percent to Iannarone's 41 percent, with the remainder of voters split on what they will do with their vote. A total of 16 percent said they would be writing in a candidate, and just 13 percent said they remained undecided.

Iannarone has claimed that she "is Antifa," because she opposes fascism.

Iannarone was accused of inciting violence in late 2019, where she tweeted that "there should be no safe haven for people affiliated with domestic terrorists and white nationalist extremists in our #SanctuaryCity, period." This tweet and others like it were directed at supposed far-right and fascist groups that were present in Portland.

Willamette Week reported that the results of the poll were "somewhat surprising given that Iannarone finished more than 20 points behind the mayor in the primary, in which Wheeler nearly received the 50 percent plus one votes required to avert a runoff."

This comes as Wheeler has faced a significant amount of backlash since the riots broke out following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. President Donald Trump has made a number of efforts to send in the National Guard in order to aid in putting down the mayhem and destruction, but Wheeler has consistently turned down the offer without doing anything to remedy the situation.

Wheeler had even moved to bar law enforcement from being able to quell the riots by ordering that they stop using tear gas—an agent commonly used by officers to put down riots.

The Portland mayor's pandering to the mob came to a head when he offered a staggering $62 million for "Black relief and resiliency," demonstrating that Wheeler had no intention of stifling the destruction wrought by Black Lives Matter and Antifa in his own city.

BLM and Antifa showed their gratitude for a mayor that has taken their side at virtually every turn throughout the summer by attempting to torch his apartment on his birthday in early September. After that, Wheeler moved.

Since the poll was released, a spokesman for Wheeler's campaign said "Our internal polling shows that we're in position to win and that we have a clear path to victory."

"Most voters are just tuning in to this race, and that's why such a large number of respondents in this poll are undecided. We are confident that once voters have the opportunity to get to know both candidates, these numbers move decisively in Ted's direction."

Iannarone tweeted that she expects "opponents of progress to do everything they can to try and block this historic grassroots campaign."
