As Trudeau and his government continue to receive criticism over the current WE charity scandal, it has come to light that another member of the Liberal government has family ties to the charity, reports Canadaland.
Finance Minister Bill Morneau’s daughter was a speaker at WE Day Ottawa, which took place on Nov. 9 2016. She was 17 years old at the time.
After WE was questioned about whether she received payment for speaking at the event, WE told Canadaland, “No, Clare Morneau was never paid.”

Included on the cover of the book is a quote from Kielburger that reads, “An inspiring portrait of African girl refugees by a passionate 17-year-old Canadian dedicated to positive change.”
When WE charity was asked about the events surrounding Kielburgers endorsement, the charity said, “Marc Kielburger seeks to support young people in their writing projects about bettering the world. He has provided endorsements to many youth authors.”
“Marc was asked by a literary representative of the publishing house, which was publishing Clare Morneau’s book, to consider an endorsement. After reading the book, Marc agreed.”
Bill Morneau in 2019, announced that WE charity would receive $3 million in federal funding to support its “social entrepreneurs” program.
