Biological male who identifies as woman arrested for allegedly killing woman after being released from prison for killing two women

The gruesome discovery of a woman's severed body parts around Brooklyn has been traced back to two-time killer Harvey Marcelin. Marcelin is accused of committing the crime, and is currently being held without bail on Riker's Island.

On March 3, a dismembered human female torso was found in a shopping cart at the corner of Pennsylvania and Atlantic avenues in Brooklyn. Five days later, a leg was discovered just blocks away.

According to the New York Post, Marcelin, who lived nearby, was subsequently arrested and charged after security footage captured Marcelin disposing of human remains.

After obtaining a search warrant, the Post reports, police found a human head they believe matched the torso, as well as electric saws.

The victim has been identified as 68-year-old Susan Layden, who sources say was living at an LGBTQ shelter at the time.

Marcelin has a long history of violence against women, and has spent the majority of life behind bars. In 1963, Marcelin was convicted of murdering girlfriend, Jacqueline Bonds, and was sentenced to twenty years to life.

Marcelin was released on lifetime parole after just twenty years, and went on to stab another girlfriend shortly after, landing in prison for that murder.

"The killer was free for less than a year before she was busted again for fatally stabbing another live-in girlfriend — stuffing her body into a bag she’d dumped on the street near Central Park, sources and court records said. She was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in that case in 1986 and sentenced to a six-to-12-year term in prison," the Post reports.

According to parole hearing comments cited by the Post, Marcelin testified to having "a problem with women."

Marcelin was released from Cayuga Correctional Facility in 2019 after multiple denied attempts at being granted parole. Marcelin's next court date is on Thursday.
