BLM activists call off rally for ‘victim,’ after learning he was white

Black Lives Matter protesters in Minnesota took a knee for a moment of silence and began to march following a fatal officer involved shooting, before calling off the event when they realized the 'victim' was actually a white carjacker who had fired at police.
According to Burnsville Police, the suspect fired numerous shots at officers who returned fire. The suspect, believed to be a white male in his 20s, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. According to initial reports, officers first encountered the suspect driving a vehicle with stolen plates which the suspect crashed. A short time later, police were notified the same male was involved in the carjacking of a female at gunpoint. Burnsville Police pursued the carjacked car and the suspect allegedly fired shots at pursuing officers before crashing the vehicle and continuing to fire at officers. Multiple officers returned fire.
During the time of the officer-involved shooting, protesters were gathered near the home of Governor Tim Waltz (D-MN) and were taking a knee in honor of the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department when they first learned of the shooting, according to The Patch.
BLM activists, ready to march following a verdict in the Chauvin trial for the death of George Floyd and having rioted for the past week after the fatal shooting by police of Daunte Wright, organized the events quickly.
However, shortly after activists began marching, they turned back and instead went to Brooklyn Center, the city where Wright died, "because they need more information about what happened in Burnsville first."
The Burnsville carjacker has not yet been identified.
