Brandon Straka, head of the #WalkAway Campaign, has been arrested by the FBI for actions stemming from the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Straka was arrested on Monday night in Omaha, Neb.
The charges levied at Straka include "impeding law enforcement during a civil disorder, knowingly entering and remaining on restricted ground without lawful authority and/or engaging in disorderly conduct within proximity to a restricted building to impede official functions and engaging in disorderly conduct with intent to disturb a hearing before Congress," according to local news outlet KETV.
Straka is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, and he's being held in federal custody. The criminal complaint against Straka details the FBI's concerns as to his conduct on Jan. 6.
Straka had "posted a video on Twitter depicting a location near an entrance to the US Capitol... in which he shouted 'Go, go," on Jan. 6. He had been "active on Twitter," and additionally had posted of "58-minute video of himself on January 7 in which he discussed the events of January 6, 2021." In it, Straka said "I literally just got home... minutes ago from Washington, DC." And he spoke in details about the Trump rally, and how a smaller faction broke off to go to the Capitol, where he was planning to speak.
While many of the posts were deleted, there were screenshots of Straka's Twitter posts that were provided to the FBI. These posts read "Patriots at the Capitol—HOLD. THE. LINE!!!!" And additional posts read "I arrived at the Capitol a few hours ago as Patriots were storming from all sides. I was quite close to entering myself as police began tear gassing us from the door. I inhaled tear fas & got it in my eyes. Patriots began exiting shortly after saying Congress had been cleared."
An additional tweet reportedly read "I'm completely confused. for 6-8 weeks everybody on the right has been saying '1776' & that is congress moves forward it will mean a revolution! So congress moves forward. Patriots storm the Capitol—now everyone is virtue-signaling their embarrassment that this happened."
Straka also wrote, per the FBI complaint, "...I was there. It was not Antifa at the Capitol. It was freedom loving Patriots who were DESPERATE to fight for the final hope of our Republic because literally nobody cares about them. Everyone else can denounce them. I will not."

In the days following the Capitol Hill riot, Straka was aghast that Facebook had removed the not-for-profit's page from their site. He claimed that "FACEBOOK has removed the #WalkAway Campaign and has BANNED ME and EVERY MEMBER of my team!!! Over half a million people in #WalkAway with hundreds of thousands of testimonial videos and stories is GONE. Facebook has banned everything related to #WalkAway."
