This is the latest in a year-long string of armored truck heists in the Philadelphia area. Per the Philadelphia Inquirer, three men were charged in June for stealing around $2 million from a truck in Port Richmond. In the same month, an armed man stole around $700,000 from a Brinks truck in Cheltenham Township, and two armed men held up a Loomis driver in Northeast Philadelphia, taking around $100,000.
Three men robbed a Brinks driver in July on Frankford Avenue, taking an undisclosed amount of cash. Less than two weeks later, two armed men attempted to rob a Brinks driver in Rhawnhurst, but fled.
