In a video tweet released by the British Prime Minister this morning, Boris Johnson has revealed that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Speaking from home, where is now quarantined and self-isolating, Johnson said:
"Hi folks I wanted to bring you up to speed with something that's happening today. Which is that I've developed mild symptoms of the coronavirus. That's to say a temperature and a persistent cough. And on the advice of the chief medical officer I've taken a test. That has come out positive. So I am working from home, I'm self isolating, and that's entirely the right thing to do. But, be at no doubt, that I can continue, thanks to the wizardry of modern technology, to communicate with all my top team to lead the national fight back against coronavirus."

He concluded by instructing the public to "Stay at home, protect the NHS, and save lives."
Yesterday, Johnson tweeted out his thanks to "all the incredible nurses, doctors, NHS support staff & carers who are working flat out to fight coronavirus."
