Conservatives are demanding Justin Trudeau testifies on his decision to prorogue parliament during one of the biggest scandals of his time as Prime Minister.
This summer, Justin Trudeau prorogued all parliamentary business, which included the committees that were analyzing the WE Charity student grant scandal.
The Conservative members apart of the Procedure and House Affairs Committee have sprung a motion asking for Trudeau to testify in front of the committee and for the Liberal government to turn over documents related to the decision to prorogue Parliament, CTV reports.
They are also calling for Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, Government House Leader Pablo Rodriguez, and Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth Bardish Chagger to appear in front of the committee.
The Liberals made added a clause to prorogation after they ripped apart the Conservative government when Harper prorogued Parliament. Trudeau will have to explain the reason for his decision in a report he will table to the House after 20 sitting days.
The Conservatives believe that the prorogation was announced to shut down work that opposition party members were doing to expose the conflict of interests and relationships the Liberals had with the WE Charity.
