BREAKING: Twitter suspends Donald Trump Jr. for sharing video featuring doctors promoting hydroxychloroquine
On Monday evening Donald Trump Jr. had his Twitter account temporarily limited for posting a video that showed a group of doctors sharing information about the coronavirus pandemic.
On Monday evening, Donald Trump Jr. had his Twitter account temporarily limited for posting a video that showed a group of doctors sharing information about the coronavirus pandemic.
Andrew Surabian took to Twitter Tuesday morning, posting a screenshot of Trump Jr.'s temporary restriction, saying: "BREAKING: @Twitter & @jack have suspended @DonaldJTrumpJr for posting a viral video of medical doctors talking about Hydroxychloroquine. Big Tech is the biggest threat to free expression in America today & they're continuing to engage in open election interference - full stop."
The Washington Post reported that President Donald Trump had tweeted out the same video which had been "scrubbed" from YouTube and Facebook, with Twitter following suit shortly after.
The Post added that Twitter moved forward in "deleting several of the tweets that Trump shared, and even adding a note to its trending topics warning about the potential risks of hydroxychloroquine."
"Tweets with the video are in violation of our COVID-19 misinformation policy," Twitter spokeswoman Liz Kelley said.
As The Spectator's Stephen Miller pointed out, the World Health Organization has repeatedly spread coronavirus misinformation on Twitter and has never been sanctioned.
The drug and information surrounding it became politicized after the president endorsed its use, echoing the sentiments of many doctors who have found success treating patients with it.
