BREAKING: Fox News slams CNN for spreading misinformation about ‘high level conversations’ with the White House

Michael Grynbaum of The New York Times published the response from a Fox News spokesperson over the CNN story.

"CNN's reporting is inaccurate. There have been no high level conversations between FOX News Media and the White House regarding our coverage. We had one routine briefing with the White House in early May on vaccination rates and our DC bureau personnel are regularly in touch with them on a variety of issues, as is the case with every other network," the statement reads.

The original story as published by CNN host Brian Stelter and CNN's chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins, claims that "regular, high-level conversations" between the White House and Fox News had taken place.

"A source familiar with the talks" is the story's primary source. The article stresses that conversations about particular messaging surrounding vaccines or even the general COVID-19 pandemic overall had taken place.

CNN uses Tuesday's White House briefing with Biden spokeswoman Jen Psaki as confirmation about the White House being in regular contact with Fox News.

However, the remarks by the press secretary don't mention any "high-level" aspect at play. In fact, Psaki's statement pushes it back into more generalized terms.

"So we understand also the importance of reaching Fox's audience about the COVID-19 vaccines and their benefits, and like we are with all of you here today, we of course are in regular contact and we also make regular efforts to have officials out on a range of networks to talk about COVID-19."

Last week the public's attention focused at the White House was directed at Psaki's statements about flagging "misinformation" for the Facebook social media platform to reprimand. The issue surrounding any federal government attempts to control the COVID-19 narrative continued into this week.
