One dead, multiple injured after San Diego synagogue shooting

"Deputies investigate reports of a man with a gun. Please stay clear of the area and allow deputies to safely do their job. Thank you for your patience and cooperation," said the tweet.

According to 10News, at least four victims have been transported to the hospital.

Shortly after the shooting, deputies reported that one man had been detained for questioning in connection to the shooting.

The synagogue which came under attack was hosting its Passover Holiday Celebration, which was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. according to an event announcement.

Those injured in the attack have been taken to Palomar Medical Center, while the police have warned those in the area to remain clear in order to continue their investigation.

The San Diego Sheriff now confirmed that one person has been killed, with three others injured during the shooting at Chabad of Poway. He’s also confirmed that a 19 year old male has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

On his way to Wisconsin for a White House Correspondents’ dinner “counter-rally,” President Trump commented on the shooting, stating “People that were effected, the families, their loved ones, [it] obviously looks right now based on my last conversations – looks like a hate crime” he went on to say that “with respect to the synagogue in California near San Diego, we’re doing some very heavy research, we will see what happens”

The San Diego Sheriff has announced that there will be extra patrols at places of worship over the weekend.

Sheriff Bill Gore has confirmed the name of the shooting suspect, as well as his age, they are now looking through any digital evidence and checking the authenticity of an online manifesto found on sites like 4chan following the shooting.

According to Palomar Health's trauma surgeon, a rabbi still remains in surgery, while a two others including a minor are doing well after being treated for shrapnel.

The home and car of the suspect, as well as the Chabad of Poway, have now been served searched warrants.

The police alongside the FBI have also announced they are now checking the possibility that the perpetrator of this shooting was also involved in the arson and vandalism of a Mosque.
