On Sunday, the United States Senate released its highly anticipated border deal legislation which provides significant reforms that crackdown on asylum and parole, according to Fox News.
The deal includes supplementary spending that would give billions in foreign aid to Israel and Ukraine. Congress has been hashing out negotiations since December.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) stated that a vote on the package could occur as early as Wednesday. However, analysts claim that this $118 billion proposal will be difficult to receive support from the House.
The Senate's national security supplemental package would allocate $20.23 billion to address the historic border crisis.
The border funds would be used to "address existing operational needs and expand capabilities at our nation’s borders, resource the new border policies included in the package, and help stop the flow of fentanyl and other narcotics."
The package also includes $60.06 billion for Ukraine in its ongoing war against Russia. An additional $14.1 billion would be given to Israel to help with security assistance.
Furthermore, the package would give $10 billion in "humanitarian assistance to provide food, water, shelter, medical care, and other essential services to civilians in Gaza and the West Bank, Ukraine, and other populations caught in conflict zones across the globe."
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) would be given $2.44 billion to support operations and address combat expenditures related to conflict in the Red Sea.
The package would also provide $2.33 billion for Ukrainians who have been displaced over the war with Russia, and other refugees fleeing persecution.
An additional $4.83 billion would be allocated to support key regional partners in the Indo-Pacific and deter aggression by the Chinese government.
Lastly, $400 million would be given to the Nonprofit Security Grant Program to help nonprofits and places of worship make security enhancements.
