On Wednesday, Derek Chauvin's lawyer questioned witness Sargent Jody Stiger about a body cam footage clip where George Floyd is talking.
Sargent Jody Stiger of the Los Angeles Police Department was brought to the witness stand as a national use of force expert to scrutinize the body cam footage of Chauvin's actions.
Eric Nelson, Chauvin's attorney, played a clip and asked if Stiger heard the clip. He then follows up with asking if he heard Floyd say "I ate too many drugs," then proceeds to play the clip again.

On Day 8 of the Chauvin trial, Stiger spoke about nine minutes and 29 seconds that Chauvin had his knee on Floyds neck. Stiger said that contrary to what others thought, footage clearly shows Chauvin with his left knee on his neck the entire time, not between his shoulder blades, and his right knee on his back, placing his entire weight on Floyd.
Stiger also testified about the dangers of positional asphyxia, which can happen without any body weight added. Additional weight, like this case, can add an additional degree of death risk.
