China warns they will not tolerate ‘politicization’ of Olympics amid ongoing genocide

China's foreign ministry said that they would not tolerate the "politicization of sports." This is not a fantastic sign for Canadian Olympic athletes as the House of Commons recently labelled China's treatment of the Uighur people a genocide.

The House of Commons also approved plans to petition the Olympic Committee to move their games away from China.

"We firmly oppose the politicization of sports, strong ideological bias against China and the fabrication of fake news and misinformation under the pretext of news freedom to distort and slander China and the 2022 Beijing Winter Games," said the Chinese foreign ministry.

Canada's newest foreign affairs minister told Canadians that they expect her to be pragmatic. "They want to make sure we can get things done." She made no mention of what those things involved, nor justified why that didn't entail stopping a genocide.

The prime minister, on the other hand, said that "we need to move forward, not just as a country but as a world, on recognizing the human rights violations that are going on in China."

Despite this, Trudeau has not yet commented on Canada's involvement in the Olympic Games.
