Doug Ford calls Toronto anti-shutdown protestors at legislature a ‘bunch of yahoos’

The Post Millennial has been reporting from Queens Park today.

Protestors gathered in Queens Park to make their views known that the emergency measures that have brought the Canadian economy to a stand still were an unwarranted overreach of government authority.

Ford disagrees. He called the 300 or so protestors "irresponsible, reckless, and selfish, according to CP24. As he spoke against their actions, he was clearly displeased about these individuals flouting the month-long order banning public gatherings.

While The Post Millennial encountered business owners with legitimate concerns at the protest, there were a fair number of people touting fringe beliefs about 5G networks and forced vaccinations.

“We have healthcare workers down the street at these hospitals working round the clock, to protect the community and 99.9 percent of people in this province are working together side by side, that’s the reason we’re able to see a flattening of the curve,” Ford said.

“But then we have a bunch of yahoos out in the front of Queen’s Park sitting there protesting that the place isn’t open, as they are breaking the law. And putting everyone in jeopardy, putting themselves in jeopardy, putting workers in jeopardy and god forbid one of them ends up in the hospital down the street.”

Ford noted that he hoped protestors would be ticketed by Toronto Police. Some protesters were out with their children, along with signs and complaints that they've been unable to operate their businesses due to restrictions.

“Imagine if we had every single Ontarian acted like the way they’re doing right now," Ford said. “It would set us back months."
