Doug Ford SLAMS grocer for $30 Lysol, store claims pricing error

Ford has vowed to "come after" any store that is using the coronavirus pandemic as a means to raise prices on essential products, calling it "disgusting."

"I have zero, zero tolerance for price gouging. I’m calling them out. Pusateri’s, I hear they are selling hand wipes for $30 a tin. That is disgusting,” said the premier.

“It's absolutely disgusting that a company like that would be selling hand wipes for that cost.”

Pusateri’s, which is the store Ford was referencing, is an upmarket grocery shop based out of Toronto, Ontario. It soon came to social media's attention that they were selling Lysol wipes for $29.99 per container.

After some significant outrage from both the general public and the premier, Pusateri’s gave out a statement saying that this was a "pricing error."

"Our stores are facing immense pressure on all levels of operation. As a result of this mounting pressure, critical elements were overlooked including the incorrect pricing of this product," said Pusateri’s media team.

"This should have never happened, and it will never happen again."
